Core Values

The ethos behind the event shapes what it will be

Harlequin Fayre is first and foremost a gathering centred on the green ethos, and it is also a continuation of a long tradition of colourful events, such as the Albion Fayres and also some other events from all across Europe

In East Anglia it seemed that the best way to attend the "dream event" was to create it - this was a long time coming

First and foremost - it's gotta be fun! Harlequin Fayre will never be a large "music festival" - it would cost the event much of it's character to try and take it in that direction. Instead we have a small, magical and interesting weekend, with vibrant people and colour, safe for kids and still brilliant for the rest of us. The tickets are priced to keep it as affordable as it's possible to be. The whole weekend is as good an excuse as any to get a costume together and dance your socks off to some of the bands, or get involved with the cabaret, relax in the Healing Area, exchange ideas in the Sustainable Futures Area, take your children to the Kids Area, or find some of the other gems, including meeting you Camping neighbours

The greener side of things is central here, and to all our lives. Medley Productions has always worked to keep things green. It's intended to run the whole event from renewable energy, and to try and reach the very challenging 90% waste recycling rate through the involvment of Bright Green. The stalls must all be brilliant, ethical, organic, and where possible, local. As soon as you have bought your ticket, PLEASE use the LiftShare facility

Aside from the dancing and merriment, there is support to local charities, we have workshops and talks, do our best to include the local community and look to the future - be it just for this event or in a wider sense. Creating Harlequin Fayre occupies much of my year and considerable time from others, so it has to include a view on life that works. The site is already beautiful but we have grand plans for the decor, because it just helps make for the right kind of weekend. Previously we have been blessed with a great crowd of ticket holders, who just got involved with the direction of the weekend. Here's hoping for more of the same

The tickets look set to all sell and the money raised should help keep the whole show on the road. Please understand that there's not a way to get rich doing all this - it costs too much and is too risky, but it's done for the fun of it, to have a brilliant fayre to go to, one we all believe in. All those who would prefer to get in for free and be part of the team should sign up as stewards soon - there's all sorts of roles and it's geared up to having a good time

We'd like to hear from you if you can help with flyering your community

The best thing about Harlequin Fayre is the people involved - we are all friends that do this, and every time it happens new faces become friends, be it as performers, stallholders, crew, co-ordinators or ticket holders. Each and every person makes this event happen, so please support it, and it will continue to grow into the event you'd like to be at

Roll on Summer!
